MROC 4x4 Response is managed by a team of voluntary 4x4 vehicle owners who offer their time, vehicles and equipment to statutory agencies and voluntary organisations, to assist in any civil emergency where four-wheel-drive vehicles are needed.
Who we work with
Part of the region’s emergency plans
Since the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, every local authority has been required to keep detailed plans for emergencies — severe weather, flooding, utility failures, transport incidents and more. Those plans must include the emergency services, utility companies and voluntary organisations. That is where we come in.
We work in partnership with the local authorities of Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire (as CSW Resilience) and Birmingham (Birmingham Resilience), and we are a member group of the national Response network of volunteer 4x4 teams.
What that looks like
asks can include transporting people and equipment through challenging driving conditions, towing and traction assist, missing-person searches, marshalling road closures and more. Every volunteer trains in off-road driving, recovery, towing, winching and radio procedure, and every vehicle is road-legal, taxed, insured and MOT’d.
We are a group of experienced volunteers, with strong links between the group, local authorities, other Cat 1 and Cat 2 responders and our voluntary partners, offering a quick and efficient response whenever we are asked for help.
Muddy fields are our home ground
We provide crewed 4x4 teams for public events — towing campers on and off soft pitches, keeping grass car parks moving and recovering the stuck. Regular fixtures include Camper Jam, Deva Fest and Camper Calling.
Drivers wanted, training given
If you are an MROC member — or ready to become one — with a 4x4 and the time to turn out, we will train you in everything else: off-road driving, recovery, radios and navigation.
